WESTON DRESSLER UPDATE

We'll start this Thanksgiving edition of the MMG with the big story. The Riders' most popular player, Weston Dressler, is going to be gone for awhile with a fractured fibula. We brought you the news first here on the blog on Sunday.

Here's an account from his hometown newspaper, the Bismarck Tribune.

By LOU BABIARZ Tribune Sports EditorBismarck's Weston Dressler suffered a broken right fibula and a sprained ankle in the Saskatchewan Roughriders' 32-22 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, but he may still return for the CFL playoffs, according to his father.Dressler was not available for comment, but Rick Dressler, said the prognosis for his son is better than it sounds.

"The doctor said he broke it in the best possible spot, down low, right above the ankle," the elder Dressler said. "They're going to put him in a boot for three weeks, and they're not concerned about the bone healing. It should heal quickly."... They didn't have to do surgery. They didn't have to set it. It was a clean break in a good spot."Rick Dressler said that the ankle may be more problematic. Right now it is swollen, so it's hard to tell the extent of the injury."They will be doing an MRI in a week or two," Rick Dressler said. "It depends on whether there is ligament damage or if it's just a sprained ankle."
