POST GAME THOUGHTS FROM ROB VANSTONE

Well, that's better.
Some quick thoughts on the Roughriders' 31-23 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos:

-- Ken Miller was proven right by not resting his starters on Saturday. As much as the so-called experts (see: me) thought it was too risky, it all worked out in the end. The Roughriders, in a supposedly meaningless game, regrouped and defeated a team that was playing for its playoff life. In that respect, the Roughriders' victory was telling. It should silence many of the critics, at least for a week.

-- It sounds like Barrin Simpson will be OK for the West semifinal against B.C., despite an ankle injury.

-- The Riders are celebrating a sold-out season. Nice way to mark a centennial, eh?

-- It's amazing how things turn. Now I'm listening to people call in to CKRM and say that the Riders are going to the Grey Cup, and that they were confident in the team all along. if so, why didn't they call in and express that confidence last week?

-- Field-goal kicking is a concern.

-- Interesting to see that the Riders have the league leaders in passing yards (Darian Durant), receiving yards (Andy Fantuz), defensive tackles (Simpson) and touchdowns (Wes Cates).

Time to hammer out a column. More later . . .
