The latest news from Riderville:

General Manager Eric Tillman announced today that offensive lineman Belton Johnson has re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Financial details of the contract were not released.

“We're very happy Belton's going to be staying in Saskatchewan,” said Tillman. “He had an outstanding training camp last year, and was playing at a very high level before he broke his leg. That injury sort of typified our season.” “Good offensive lineman are often taken for granted, or not fully recognized for the value they bring to a team, but, I can guarantee you this: every player on our offensive squad knows how much Belton's loss impacted us last year.” “Off the field, you won't me a nicer guy, but, between those white lines, Belton is tenacious and plays with great heart and passion,” concluded Tillman. “Strong teams are built with winners like Belton.”

The Ole Miss product has spent the last two seasons with the Green and White. In 2008 he dressed in nine games which included starting in five despite suffering a broken fibula partway into the season.
