Lance Frazier, who re-signed Tuesday with the Roughriders, has been in daily contact with middle linebacker Maurice Lloyd.

Frazier said that Lloyd, a who is eligible for free agency on Feb. 15, deep down wants to remain a Rider.“I can hear that in his voice when we talk every day,’’ said Frazier. “I don’t know what it’s going to take to get him to sign before free agency . . . He talks about his family a lot and he rarely speaks about the money.’’

Frazier said if the Riders offered Lloyd a six-figure deal, which they have, he would be happy with that.“It’s more of him being paid what he deserves at this point as far as money goes’’ said Frazier. “He wants to be a Rider period. If B.C. or Edmonton have interest in him . . . if they threw the same amount of money at him as the Riders, he would be back. It would have to be a crazy amount of money for him to leave the Roughriders.’’

Frazier had heard about defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall leaving to become the head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos. Frazier said that was a huge loss but he would like to veteran Eddie Davis to help make the transition to a new defensive co-ordinator.“Eddie will probably become my Richie Hall,’’ said Frazier. “I lean on him when I need help and he’s a guy who has helped my progression in this league.’’
